Volumetric weight formula
For applicable Blue Sky quotes, calculate centimetres as Length × Width × Height ÷ 5000.
Example
A 50 × 40 × 30 cm box equals 12 kg volumetric weight. If its actual weight is 9 kg, 12 kg can be the chargeable weight.
Multiple boxes and rounding
Compare actual and volumetric weight separately for every box, add the higher weights, then round the combined total up to the next whole kilogram. Two boxes with chargeable weights of 3.01 kg and 4.01 kg total 7.02 kg, rounded up to 8 kg. A 34.01 kg total becomes 35 kg.
Before you request a quote
Measure the outside of the packed box in centimetres, including any bulges. Enter the actual weight in kilograms. Recheck after adding packaging. Pickup, packaging, duties and taxes depend on your service and are confirmed separately.
Why dimensions matter
Large lightweight boxes occupy transport capacity, so courier services may price them by dimensional weight.
